Annual Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Talent Hunt Competition

By HollabackCoffee

On March 23, 2013, students competed at the Oakwood Village West Auditorium in Madison, Wisconsin. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the contestants of the Omega Psi Phi Talent Hunt.

This was my first time attending the Talent Hunt and I enjoyed every performance.  All the contestants did a fabulous job, showcasing talent in dance, spoken word, and music.  Parents, academic leaders, Oakwood Village residents and the community were out in full support of the entire event.

Let me give ya the low down…

Opening the show was an emotional spoken word set by Alexia Freeman and Jaylynn Butler, titled “BabyGirl”.  The poem paid tribute to a mothers; knowledge, love and sacrifice.  Alexia and Jaylynn performed in perfect harmony. Next up, was Jayson Taylor; all I can say is that boy can dance!  I was singing along and dancing in my chair.  Jayson’s moves are sure to take him far.  Violinist, Lexus Anderson-Carter; in my opinion was the crowd favorite. Lexus had begun her set on a classical note but ended bringing the heat. She mixed it up with rap and R &B. Lexus was awarded 2nd place.  Brittney White came in the building looking like a star and had no problem delivering the goods! Star in the making, real talk. Kynala was in the mix, and sang real well even with cold, she placed 3rd. you go girl! Ti0vius Comer, look for this young man in the new Boys and Girls Club Movie, 608 Movie.  Tiovius voice was like velvet, You Go Boyeee!!!

First through third place overall performance winners received financial awards in the amounts of $300, $150 and $50 respectively.   Brittney White, won first place winner will also receive traveling expenses paid for them and their parent or guardian to attend the 10th District Omega Psi Phi Talent Hunt competition in Lisle, Illinois the weekend of April 18th, 2013.

He’s been called “The Next Jeezy.” He’s a street rapper who makes hood anthems with the potential to reach the masses, like Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Plies before him. That’s right, Yo Gotti is one of the hottest rappers in the streets, with some of the highest quality music. His street albums make serious noise without a major push, he stays on the road performing paid shows and he’s gotten more than 24 million plays on his Myspace page.
All of this momentum sets the stage for what will surely be the album that takes Yo Gotti from street sensation to national star, the impeccable Live From The Kitchen. Boasting production from Cool & Dre (Lil Wayne, The Game), Shawty Redd (Young Jeezy, Snoop Dogg), DJ Toomp (T.I., Kanye West) and others, Yo Gotti’s latest concoction boasts his trademark street tales delivered with beats hard enough to sustain his street roots yet catchy enough to catch the ear of the average rap fan.
